MARKING TIME
Oxbow Gallery

The sculptures, paintings and prints in this show were created from 2020-2024. My formal lexicon is inspired by natural patterns and forms, without a direct or specific reference. Some pieces respond to political, cultural or pandemic related issues, using forms which repeat, overlap, and interact to create a tension between movement and stillness. Other pieces work with patterns and shapes to explore meditations on infinity, balance, and harmony. In the months since the beginning of the pandemic, my work alternates between sculpture, painting and mono prints, a familiar rhythm of working in the studio. The sculptural pieces begin with an initial form, in response to an element in the paintings or vice versa. Repetition of form has been prevalent in my work for a number of years, and continues to allow me to explore order and chaos.
